Our Inspiration
O2rizon™ didn't start in a lab; it started at the bedside.
As a practicing anesthetist working through a Level 1 Trauma Center during COVID‑19, Tosan Ugbeye observed the stopgap measures used being used to contain respiratory particles and saw an opportunity it a little known device called the anesthesia mask that is used to deliver oxygen and anesthesia gases. It never left the room -going in the trash can when the procedure was over-and hadn't seen much innovation. What started as a mission to mitigate respiratory pathogens transformed into a solution for a disruptive sequence he saw play out again and again: a patient's oxygen would drop mid‑procedure, and the only option was to stop everything, pull the mask, and scramble for a different device to revive them.
